Market Day

On Saturdays there is a type of Farmer's Market about a 10 minute walk from the apartment. Due to some renovation in the area it has moved up the street even closer to us.
We headed down there this morning to shop.
Anything and everything you could possibly imagine is sold at this market. Fresh flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables, breads, cheese, dairy products, meats, and the traditional flea market junk. The type of thing about which my Grandmother used to say 'One man's junk is another man's treasure.....' So far I have not found treasures but we did find a good seeded bread & some basil cheese. The beginnings of brunch....one of our favorite traditions in Amsterdam.
A quick stop at the store and we came home to make a great brunch. Scrambled eggs with spinach, onions garlic & cheese......mmmm!!!
Have a few housekeeping items to take care of - dishes to do, laundry to get out of the dryer. After that, we are off for a long walk in the park, weather permitting. Speaking of weather, it has been dry here except at night when it has been great to lay in bed listening to the rain. The temperatures are about equal to Keller right now. Today there is a 70% chance of rain. Hopefully we won't get caught in it as we head out to Vondelpark.

  1. Wow, that sounds like a busy and productive day! I absolutely love the french fry and mayonnaise combination they have in Amsterdam! I've tried to recreate it at home, but it never turns out quite as tasty.

My dad goes on business trips to Amsterdam all the time (there's a big Shell plant there) and knows most of the good chinese food spots. Let me know if you're you're craving Chinese and need a recommendation! :)
